Forest Heath District

Forest Heath is situated at the heart of East Anglia where forest, fen and downland meet. Centred on the ancient Icknield Way, it is the place to explore the history of East Anglia through its market towns, ancient churches and beautiful countryside.

The district is as varied as its landscape. Newmarket, set in the south, is the internationally famous historic headquarters and home of horseracing. Mildenhall, at the edge of the fens, is a pretty mediaeval town centred around St Mary's Church, the sixteenth century market cross and the parish pump.

In the north, wildlife and flora abound in the forest and breckland. Brandon, on the banks of the picturesque Little Ouse river, is steeped in history centred around the fur trade and flint knapping.
