The Coastal District of SPS stretches from Walberswick to Felixstowe a land of light, sandy soils, open skies, farms, saltings, estuaries; one third of the district is an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB).

SPS seeks to make a constructive contribution on a number of challenging issues in the district:
Transformation of the redundant USAF base at Bentwaters into an attractive residential community with employment opportunities, while preserving the tranquillity of the AONB
Achieving a balance between the requirements of large-scale modern farming and the capacity of narrow country roads to carry increasing numbers of cyclists and walkers attracted as tourists
Making sure that there is no headlong dash into holiday accommodation at the expense of housing and employment for local people.
1. All planning strategies, developments, and applications are monitored
2. Planning sub-committee meets on fortnightly basis, with special concern for conservation areas, listed buildings, and changes of use
3. Workshops on environmental issues
4. Social events and visits to places of special interest, e.g. Sutton Hoo
