Current Campaigns

 

The Society is campaigning on a number of issues in order to ensure that the planning system is reflective of what local communities want and need, rather than it being a delivery mechanism for national and regional government.

 

As part of this, it regularly runs workshops and training days for its members, town and parish councils and amenity society members.  it does this as it believes the more people involved in planning and understand the process and procedures, the better chance they have of securing what they want from it.

23 January 2012 Suffolk County Council’s archaeology and archive services will be delivered by a single organisation created jointly between MEAL and the council.  The new organisation would bring together archaeology, archives and museum services and help safeguard them for the future.  It would also help in accessing new additional sources of funding, provide greater public access and help increase the rate of digitisation of collections.
