The Suffolk Preservation Society promotes all that is special about our county’s heritage, and we need your support in championing our cause.

Suffolk is a diverse county. Rural and urban, ancient and modern, industrial development and unspoilt landscape. Such contrasts sit in tension with one another, and a path must be found that preserves what is significant, while also allowing considered change.

Our vision is of a county that embraces the new, while honouring the past. We see a future where we work in partnership – with communities, with funders, with employers.

Together, we will ensure that our precious historic buildings and landscapes are preserved and given contemporary purpose, that education and training continues in heritage craft skills providing secure and valuable employment, and that our towns and villages have agency in how future development takes place. Suffolk has over 13,000 designated listed buildings and 173 conservation areas as well as numerous buildings of local importance. We work to protect, promote and celebrate our rich and unique historic environment. We do this through working with partners where specific buildings or landscapes are at risk, and supporting campaigns for protection, reuse, and preservation.
