Two villages in Mid Suffolk which successfully fought off the threat of large housing developments are facing a renewed challenge from the developers.

In Debenham a scheme for 295 houses on Gracechurch Road from Taylor Wimpey was refused by MSDC planning committee in 2019. Since then the Neighbourhood Plan has been completed which allocates other more appropriate sites in the village which could supply sufficient new housing. Despite this Taylor Wimpey resubmitted an unchanged scheme before Christmas for reconsideration.

Meanwhile in Fressingfield, three applications are back before the planners. Development on all 3 sites was refused last year due, amongst other reasons, to the safety of pedestrians on the village roads.
