22 April 2010 - Organic Farm at Wickhambrook. Dr Philip Draycott has kindly invited members to look round his farm at Ashfield Green followed by lunch. He is a soil scientist who has adapted his arable farm to the changing needs of the environment and wild life. Over coffee he will explain the history of the farm and the problems of Suffolk clay. His son, Dr Roger, will guide us round the fields concentrating on vegetation, game and wildlife - especially birds. After a refreshing drink Mrs Draycott will serve us lunch. The cost is £20 per person to include drinks and food.
If you would like to attend please contact David Rees on 01284 754618 or email david.rees@talktalk.net before 10 April 2010.
26 May 2010 visit to Hengrave Hall 5.30 pm
Following its sale three years ago, Hengrave Hall has been extensively refurbished and is now a marvellous setting for weddings, conferences etc. The history and charm remain and it is, of course, one of the most important Tudor buildings in Suffolk - pictured on the cover of Pevsner. We shall have a tour of the house and church and will finish with a drink on the terrace. We are grateful to David Harris for his hospitality.
Numbers are limited - there will be a small charge - details later.
If you would like to attend please contact David Rees on 01284 754618 or email david.rees@talktalk.net before 10 May 2010.
