4 September 2010 - MID SUFFOLK BRANCH EVENT - NORTH SUFFOLK FARMHOUSES

Mid Suffolk SPS invite you to view two outstanding, 15th century farmhouses in North Suffolk. Yaxley Manor House and Elm Tree Farmhouse are set around Mellis Common, the largest common in Suffolk. Both grade II* properties have particularly fine interiors and have never been open to SPS or SHBG members before.
The renowned architectural historian, Philip Aitken, has kindly agreed to provide guided tours of both properties. The tours will be followed by a traditional cream tea in the Director’s garden at The Glebe.
Please arrive by 2pm and park on the road at the Mellis Primary School (Yaxley Road), where you will be met and accompanied to the first property. Numbers are limited, and the ticket price is £12. 9 September 2010 - Long Melford Church before the Restoration

Meet at 11.00 at Long Melford Church (park at the top of the green in front of the Church

Local historian Clive Paine has agreed to lead a study group to Long Melford Church. The event is open to all members of the Society and their guests. After the church visit, which will include coffee, lunch will be taken at the Bull Hotel followed by a guided walking tour of historic Hall Street.

The cost for the day is £16 members and £18 guests to include coffee and a two course lunch
