The planning process can seem complicated, and completing a Neighbourhood Plan can seem like a daunting task. But it doesn’t have to be, and it is the best way for your community to define what is important to you so that you can positively influence future development.
No village or town is completely protected from change, but if you work together with your neighbours to decide and agree on what makes your community’s buildings and landscapes special, then you will have far greater control over what can and cannot be built or altered.
As a part of our charitable work at SPS, we work actively with communities to support better neighbourhood planning. We run a programme of expert-led workshops throughout the year covering different aspects of the neighbourhood planning process, and we can provide further information on where to start, such as this simple guide to Neighbourhood Planning basics.
