As part of SPS’s commitment to protecting Suffolk’s unique built heritage, we provide regular training opportunities to promote best practice on the repair and care of our historic and traditional buildings.

Our training days are open to householders, town and parish councils, community groups, students and building professionals.

SPS’ current focus is on the retrofitting of Suffolk’s historic building stock to meet the challenges of climate change.

In 2022 we provided an online webinar – Net Zerothe challenges of retrofitting our traditional building stock. Our speakers were Morwenna Slade, Historic England, Alex Whitcroft, London Energy Transformation Initiative and Simon Sturgis – Targeting Zero and SPS Trustee.

We have now partnered with Historic England for three years to provide a series of high quality training to help owners and property managers to adapt their buildings appropriately, improving efficiency while respecting the building’s significance.

At our first retrofit workshop in 2023 we hosted speakers from the SPAB (Society for the Protection of Ancitent Buildings) and Historic England.

Our next workshop is being planned for November 2024.

Check our our Events page for details of forthcoming heritage training courses and visits.
