We recognise the benefits for communities and individuals that is gained from positive engagement with their surrounding environment. We understand why our unique sense of place is important. We seek to celebrate our county, and how contemporary design and architecture can enhance the landscapes and buildings that make our county so special.

As a part of our charitable work at SPS, we work actively with communities to support better neighbourhood planning. We run a programme of expert-led workshops throughout the year covering different aspects of the neighbourhood planning process, and we work with communities to empower them through supporting the development of neighbourhood plans.

The planning process can seem complicated, and completing a Neighbourhood Plan can seem like a daunting task. But it doesn’t have to be, and it is the best way for your community to define what is important to you so that you can positively influence future development.

No village or town is completely protected from change, but if you work together with your neighbours to decide and agree on what makes your community’s buildings and landscapes special, then you will have far greater control over what can and cannot be built or altered.
